Blood sugar & diabetes

Registered dietitian in downtown Vancouver, focused on blood sugar & diabetes

Nutrition support for steadier blood sugar and for living well with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, without the all-or-nothing rules. My approach is practical, sustainable, and built around the foods you actually eat.

Blood sugar responds to more than sugar, carbohydrates, portion sizes, fibre, protein, timing, sleep, and stress all play a part. Understanding how those levers work for your body is what turns confusing advice into a clearer, steadier routine.

What we work on

  • Type 2 diabetes: nutrition support for steadier blood sugar through everyday food choices, coordinated with your care.
  • Prediabetes: supporting healthy blood sugar and the habits that go with it.
  • Carbohydrate confidence: the right type, amount, and timing rather than cutting carbs out.
  • Sustainable routines: meals and habits that hold up on busy weeks.

Realistic, not restrictive

My clinical background includes diabetes and blood sugar, and my focus is on strategies you can keep. In practice that looks like keeping foods you love, working with real schedules, and building consistency over time, not a strict diet you abandon in a month.

How I work

I look at your history, medications, and typical day, then work on the pieces that affect your blood sugar most. Where you're working with a physician or diabetes care team, I coordinate so nutrition and treatment reinforce each other.

This page is general education, not medical advice. Any changes to diabetes medication should be made with your physician; nutrition support is built to complement your medical care.

Blood sugar & diabetes FAQ

How can a dietitian help with type 2 diabetes?

A dietitian helps you understand how food affects your blood sugar and builds an eating pattern that supports steadier levels, balancing carbohydrates, protein, fibre, and timing in a way that fits your routine. The aim is a plan you can actually keep, without giving up the foods and flexibility that make it livable, coordinated with your care team.

Can nutrition help with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes?

For many people, nutrition and lifestyle changes are an important part of managing type 2 diabetes and of supporting healthy blood sugar in prediabetes. Individual results vary and any changes to medication should be made with your physician, but food is one of the most useful tools you have.

Do I have to give up carbohydrates?

No. Supporting blood sugar is about the type, amount, and timing of carbohydrates, not cutting them out entirely. I help you keep foods you enjoy while smoothing out the spikes.
